A token for global environmental participation for the benefit of our shared planet

In respect of environment4change and our plans for the future, the addition and convergence of a Blockchain element ‘into the mix’ with e-commence technologies is a critical part of offering a Platform as a Service, open access, scalability, service aggregating, collecting un-used and under-utilised resources and uniting global goodwill for the benefit of Mother Earth.

Our choice of a Blockchain element is to enhance our service offering by offering service elements of transparency, immutability and fairness, by using a decentralised and censorship resistant network protocol. Transactions within the Blockchain platform will be used to record changes to the Blockchain state thus recording the important movements of value around the environment4change ecosystem. Smart contracts will be used to trigger changes to the Blockchain state via the transaction. It is not lost on the environment4change team that advances will be made in transaction complexity and flexibility, as time goes on. Thus, we will support what we can now, with the understanding and an undertaking, as the technology matures and becomes more sophisticated, more and more will be pushed to the data structure and supporting layers to remove centralised control away from the operation functionality of the platform for Mother Earth.

In the above, the environment4change team understand the importance of getting the token economics right. Although every aspect of the service is geared towards appreciating value directly transferable to Mother Nature, we understand proper functioning of supply and demand, behind a growing user-case, customer base, service growth, around a growing and active community, is critical in enabling the ‘buying back’ of critical endangered habitats for the benefit of future generations, in perpetuity.

Blockchain technology is a critical element of the architecture now and will play a growing role as the technology grows beyond what defines it today. We are exciting to bring Blockchain technology, what it brings now and what it promises for tomorrow, to the environmental conscience of everyone, for the future of everything including the cradle which nurtures us all.

Consensus protocols

There are a number of Blockchain platforms that would have serviced our requirements for a robust, scalable and transparent record of truth and trust. As our project, and use of a Blockchain technology, is for the benefit of Mother Earth, any barrier or unreasonable expense attributing to donations of time, equipment, or funding is simply not acceptable. For this reason, the environment4change team favour a Polygon sidechain via Ethereum Proof of Stake (POS). We are open to other ‘PoS’ consensus algorithms or Delegated Proof of Stake consensus algorithms and welcome dialogue on this issue. We are aware Ethereum layer 2 is an exciting space for what it promises and we eagerly await its future maturation.

Tokenisation of participation

We propose to issue our own ERC tokens to record value and interactions of the tokenisation of environmental participation for everyone using the environment4change platform and ecosystem.

Rewards (tokens) for community members within our ecosystem

As a foot needs a sock and a shoe, a platform using a strategy of curation, needs a mechanism to reward, to give back to the community who is continually improving it, via feedback, testimonials and social networking posts and critiques.

As the environment4change team value community participation over almost everything else, it is envisaged competitions for reward will be held each month on the platform. Individual community members can spin up their own project, for environmental good, and seek the team at environment4change to support with participation and competition rewards. This functionality will represent a single module of the PaaS architecture, servicing the entire environment4change ecosystem.

Food for thought

The underlying success of environment4change’s inclusive, transparent and enabling technology resides with its utility value against the many “industry vertical user-cases” it will be tested against. There no doubt will be a number of successful blockchain technologies focused on different user requirements of the blockchain technology. The team at environment4change look forward to extending and enabling digital functionality and innovation around a user account, on a platform premised towards transactions describing ecosystem interactions. We believe we have much experience to share with the blockchain community, through Ethereum/Polygon or another ‘PoS’ protocols and look forward to doing so.

Our future is a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation!

This is a project dependent on community support, the community will drive its success. Our vision therefore is the PaaS (E4C service) should be governed as a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO). This community-based code driven system will use the E4C token for the purposes of membership, voting and updating the rules of services. Building on Polygon we believe continued innovation within the layer 2 space will ensure this democratised critically important platform and layer functionality is further developed and expanded in scope and depth.

environment4change is a Platform as a Service (software) created to support global environmentalism, built on the premise of transparency and trust. Using a blockchain ecosystem and utilising the layer 1 solution with the best layer two solutions, to enable the first “global environmental ‘can-do’ digital tool-set where the responsibility for cleaning and supporting our shared planet is taken away from centralised authorities and given to us all to fix ourselves. With E4C, we all have a hand in cleaning up our environment, for the benefit of future generations.
