Greed does not have to be ‘allegorical’ to a token issue – how a blockchain environmental Platform as a Services, ensures this is true
What an awful month or so we have seen in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. This blog has been much tougher to write than espousing the normal good news stories, around community based environmental effort, and the usual blockchain value and service updates. With that said, the below will hopefully ameliorate, for those of us with any patience left for the cryptocurrency ecosystem, and add a little clarity around a month where greed, theft, contempt for other people’s assets, and selfish risk-taking insanity, seems to have defined for us all, that blockchain technology, is somehow not what we all had hoped it could become.
Centralised Crypto Exchanges are not Web3
It seems ironic, as some of us strive to build truly global facing altruistic environmental applications, upon the best parts of the promises of web3, that the trading mischief and dishonesty around some crypto exchanges and subsidiary businesses, the very same crypto exchanges purporting to be ‘a promising part of the Web3 ecosystem’ but in truth representing nothing of the ideology, principle, or technology of Web3, but simply espousing the very worst of the excesses of the traditional financial silos. Because these failed money makers, these Web 2.0 financial silos of shame, have built digital tentacles, on-ramps towards some legitimate Web3 businesses does not make these exchanges et al, real supporters and champions of the Web3 ecosystem. In-fact Alameda, FTX et al. have shown themselves to be everything not Web3. Where real Web3 companies look to push trust, regulation and compliance into a protocol layer, the kids at FTX and Alameda promise financial freedom to their many account holders whilst misappropriating these very accounts for their own selfish use and purpose. The antitheist of real Web3 behaviour.
What is the purpose of my blog today? Perhaps writing this one is what I need to do. Its purpose, the process being cathartic in understanding, not all cryptocurrency and blockchain development projects, and digital tokens issuances, are created equal. Thanks to the recent financial collapse of many flawed and mismanaged ‘crypto’ lending institutions, exchanges and investment funds, I fear many commentators, interested spectators and ‘would-be future investors’ will not be able to demarcate between projects that create change, represent real value, and deliver democratisation and freedom, from those who simply move an asset type or class from one account to another, from one side of the office to another.
Rather than seeing all crypto projects, including our very different environmental and planet cleaning project, are not the same and differ greatly in purpose, scope and action, mistakenly many will group us all into the same miserable pile of valueless digital ‘make-believe.’ I am writing to explain the very great differences between the environment4change project and the behaviour of a few ‘bad actors’ for the sake of the promise of global community based environmental effort. So, what is environment4change and why is this blockchain development project still worthy of support?
What is environment4change?
The underlying premise of the environment4change movement is building, encouraging and supporting local environmental clean-up projects. A global movement of local environmental projects will be built, project by project. The movement sees the responsibility for cleaning up and supporting our shared planet’s ‘environmental needs’ taken away from centralised, authorities and given to all of us, through a decentralised, connected, open and transparent networked service solution.
environment4change is building a set of digital tools, encapsulating everything you need to do or support environmental clean-up work anywhere around the World. The platform will enable the creation of ‘environmental projects’ where the projects aspiration and needs are shared around a community, where needs meet resources, and a great environmental outcome is obtained.
Finally, environment4change is a Platform as a Service (software) created to support global environmentalism, built on the premise of transparency and trust. Using a blockchain ecosystem and utilising the layer 1 solution with the best layer two solutions, to enable the first “global environmental ‘can-do’ digital tool-set where the responsibility for cleaning and supporting our shared planet is taken away from centralised authorities and given to us all to fix ourselves. With E4C, we all have a hand in cleaning up our environment, for the benefit of future generations.
Decentralised, community-based project with a supporting token
This is a project dependent on community support, the community will drive its success. Our vision therefore is the PaaS (E4C service) should be governed as a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO). This community-based code driven system will use the E4C token for the purposes of membership, voting and updating the rules of services. Building on the premier BlockChain platform (Ethereum/Polygon) we believe continued innovation within the Ethereum/Polygon ecosystem will ensure this democratised critically important platform and layer functionality is further developed and expanded in scope and depth.
The tokenization of environmental access and participation is a construct with a difference. Where normal ‘Crypto Projects’ are driven and assessed by typical economic drivers of network affect, revenue and profit, this project measures success by thousands of projects running concurrently giving cleaner waterways, beaches, parks and bushland. Using the Polygon Blockchain, our token will be minted prior to the PaaS software release. Tokens will be issued upon the receipt of donations, project work completed, and other value giving services. Donations of fiat currencies will be converted to a trusted decentralised stable coin prior to issuance of E4C tokens. Issuance of any tokens will be via smart contract and consistent with the coded rules of the DAO.
Our future is a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO)!

The role of the E4C Foundation
Setting out to clean up the planet is a goal that doesn’t fit the capitalist model. The benefits of a cleaner planet will accrue to us all. We believe the Foundation Model is best suited to this endeavour as society will value a cleaner planet and recognise the immense value of having plastics and other contaminants removed from our communities.
Our Foundation is in place to promote clean-up projects around the world where participants clean up their own communities and receive rewards, both tokens, fiat or other valuables. In our thinking, token value provides an additional value lever to kickstart and scale the network effects we are looking for. Network activity will be managed through tokens. Clean-up project initiators and volunteers will be incentivised to bring clean-up and other environmental projects to the E4C platform early on, in exchange for tokens whose value appreciates as market activity, token utility and network demand for tokens increase. Looking forward, tokens provide a decentralised management tool, market indicator and incentive mechanism which we believe will also help lift the poorest in our communities out of poverty.
Our Foundation will be the driving force behind developments in community engagement. The Foundation exists to benefit local communities globally, by cleaner environments locally. We believe it is the best utility of stakeholder alignment that we have ever seen.
Our imagination of environment4change is a Web3 based non-profit organisation that is about giving back to communities their local resources and assets to enable them to participate in cleaning up of their own environments, for the benefit of their and their family’s own health.
