Understanding the environment4change value matrix

Let’s be completely honest! The potential value of any business can be defined by the problem the businesses is looking to solve and the scope, depth and width of the said problem. Valuing a problem is a helpful first step, or perhaps valuing the resultant condition if nothing is done can be more telling! In the case of global environmental damage, it is made a little easier as very credible and venerable organisations have asked themselves this very question, as the basis of their growing concern at the state of our shared planet’s health.

The question being, “what is the cost of our shared environmental damage caused directly or indirectly by human activity?”

A study by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Finance Initiative and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) estimated:

“… the global environmental damage caused by human activity to be about US$6.6 Trillion in 2008, which is equal to almost 11% of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The study also predict that this cost will potentially reach US$28.6 Trillion by 2050, mainly related to environmental damage from greenhouse gas emissions, pollution (air and water), waste and depletion of natural resources."

environment4change is building a Platform as a Service encapsulating all environmental work under the banner and scarcity of a single utility token. The Platform will include a digital toolset and software as a service set, wholly for the benefit of increasing the reach, adoption, participation and success of global environmental action. We will invest in technology solutions that address immediate problems faced around the world. When we recognise vast improvements are needed, we will start businesses to address the imbalances in markets. Not having a profit motive as our principle concern will allow us to invest in environmentally ethical projects, at the points of greatest need for the planet.

The team at environment4change have chosen to use Blockchain technology in our architecture for many reasons. If our environment and its treatment, repair, correction and rehabilitation does not deserve the focus of a digital token then what possible global cause does? environment4change needs to execute our vision of aggregation, access, unity and enabling greater global participation, learning and awareness with complete trust. Blockchain architecture affords a new level of transparency, and hence trust around environmental activities and the spending of collected global funds gifted by generous participates of the cause.

Use of the environment4change digital token will be seamless and happens under the hood of the services architecture. By the tokenisation of environmental participation, we afford the architecture a future where the environment4change community can engage in the running of the organisation through a decentralised autonomous organisational (DAO) structure and the digital services that architecture will provide.
